Our journey begins with a comfortable pick-up from your lodge in Fort Portal at 9:00 AM. We set off on an 86-kilometer drive to Semuliki National Park, traveling through picturesque landscapes and rural communities. The scenic drive provides a glimpse into the lush beauty of the Ugandan countryside.

10:30 AM – Arrival at Semuliki National Park

Upon arrival at Semuliki National Park, we head to the park entrance for registration. Here, we’ll complete the necessary payments and receive an informative briefing from our experienced park ranger. This briefing will cover the park’s history, the significance of the hot springs, and important safety guidelines.

11:00 AM – Visit to the Female Hot Springs

Our first stop within the park is the Female Hot Springs, also known as Sempaya Hot Springs. This site is not only a natural wonder but also holds cultural significance for the local communities. As we walk through the lush, forested trail leading to the hot springs, keep an eye out for the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this unique ecosystem.

At the Female Hot Springs, you’ll be mesmerized by the sight of boiling water emerging from the ground, creating a steamy and otherworldly atmosphere. Our guide will share fascinating insights into the geothermal activity that powers the hot springs and the local legends associated with them.

12:00 PM – Connecting Walk to the Male Hot Springs

From the Female Hot Springs, we continue our exploration with a nature walk to the Male Hot Springs. This walk allows us to fully appreciate the park’s biodiversity, as we pass through lush vegetation and potentially spot some of the park’s wildlife, including various bird species and primates.

12:30 PM – Experience the Male Hot Springs

Arriving at the Male Hot Springs, you’ll witness another spectacular geothermal phenomenon. The water here is incredibly hot, reaching temperatures of up to 85 degrees Celsius (185 degrees Fahrenheit). This spot offers a unique and interactive experience: bring along some eggs or any food that can be boiled, and watch in awe as the geothermal heat cooks your food in a matter of minutes.

1:00 PM – Picnic Lunch

2:00 PM – Return Journey to Fort Portal

3:30 PM – Arrival Back at Your Lodge

We arrive back at your lodge in Fort Portal in the late afternoon, concluding our day of exploration and adventure. You’ll have plenty of time to reflect on the day’s experiences and enjoy the rest of your evening at your leisure.
